Probiotics are live microorganism that when consumed has a number of health benefits to your body. Two main types of microbes that are used as probiotics include bifidobacteria and Lactic acid bacteria. It also includes certain bacilli and yeasts; and consumed as part of fermented foods through addition of active live cultures and act as dietary supplements. It even affects the mechanism of diarrhea, allergies, urogenital infections and intestinal inflammation. The term has been coined and used by Lilley and Stillwell. The use of antibiotics can kill both useful and harmful bacteria, which can result to increased digestive problems such as urinary tract infections, yeast infections and diarrhea. It reduces the concentration of toxins in the gut and results to improved health.
